Embark on a once-in-a-lifetime motorcycle adventure through the heart of the Himalayas. This extraordinary journey takes you from the spiritual streets of Kathmandu through the rugged beauty of Tibet and up to the legendary Everest Base Camp. Designed for experienced riders with a love for high-altitude adventure and cultural immersion, this tour combines thrilling mountain riding with deep spiritual and natural exploration. Ride through breathtaking landscapes, explore sacred monasteries, and stand at the foot of the world’s highest peak—Mount Everest. This is not just a motorbike tour; it’s a transformative expedition into one of the most remote and awe-inspiring corners of the planet.
Day 1 – Arrival in Kathmandu
Your adventure begins as you arrive in Kathmandu, the vibrant capital of Nepal. After checking in to your hotel, you’ll meet the rest of the group for a welcome drink and dinner. This is a great opportunity to get to know your fellow travelers and your tour leaders. The evening will be spent going over the necessary paperwork for your motorcycle rentals, as well as a briefing on the itinerary, riding protocols, and safety guidelines. This will set the tone for the exciting journey ahead.
Day 2 – Kathmandu Sightseeing & Permit Processing
While your Tibet travel permits are being processed, you’ll have the day to explore Kathmandu’s rich cultural and spiritual landmarks. Visit the sacred Pashupatinath Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most revered Hindu temples in Nepal. Wander through Durbar Square, known for its ancient palaces and temples, and experience the lively atmosphere of the city. Next, head up to Swayambhunath Stupa (the Monkey Temple), where you’ll enjoy panoramic views of Kathmandu and the surrounding valley. As the day ends, indulge in a traditional Nepali dinner at a local restaurant, soaking in the flavors of this unique cuisine.
Day 3 – More Sightseeing & Motorcycle Familiarization
Today, while the final paperwork is processed, you’ll continue exploring Kathmandu. The day offers a relaxed pace, with time to see more of the city, including the bustling markets and unique neighborhoods. In the afternoon, you’ll finally meet your Royal Enfield motorcycles. After a brief introduction to the bikes, the group embarks on a short test ride through the local area. This is the perfect opportunity to familiarize yourself with your bike and prepare for the ride ahead.
Day 4 – Ride to Rasuwagadhi
The journey officially kicks off as you leave Kathmandu behind and start riding into the foothills of the Himalayas. The winding roads take you through lush green valleys and vibrant villages, as you make your way towards SyabruBesi. Along the way, you’ll experience Nepal’s diverse landscapes and warm hospitality. Once you reach SyabruBesi, you’ll have time to unwind in the natural hot springs, a perfect way to relax after your first day on the bike. After a refreshing soak, continue the journey to Rasuwagadhi, a small village located near the Nepal–Tibet border, where you’ll spend the night.
Day 5 – Cross into Tibet
On Day 5, the group crosses into Tibet, an exciting milestone in your journey. The border crossing at Rasuwagadhi involves a series of paperwork checks, which can take a couple of hours, but once cleared, you’ll be officially in China. You’ll meet your local Tibetan guide and ride to the town of Gyriong, a quiet town surrounded by stunning mountain views. This peaceful location offers the perfect setting to rest and acclimatize to the altitude. Take a moment to explore this remote area and prepare for the next leg of your journey.

Day 6 – Ride to Shegar
Day 6 brings one of the more challenging days of the tour, as you ride over 340 kilometers through some of the most beautiful and rugged terrain in Tibet. The route takes you over several high mountain passes, one of which peaks at 5,236 meters, so be sure to bundle up for the cold! Along the way, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of Everest and other Himalayan giants that dominate the horizon on a clear day. The road is not easy, but the views make every curve and climb worth it. By evening, you’ll reach Shegar, where you’ll rest for the night.
Day 7 – Ride to Shigatse
The following day, you’ll ride a shorter but still substantial distance (around 250 kilometers) as you head towards Shigatse, Tibet’s second-largest city. The route takes you over another pass, at 4,300 meters, and as you descend, the landscapes begin to change. On arrival in Shigatse, the group will undergo a mandatory health check to ensure everyone is acclimatizing well to the altitude. You’ll have time to explore this vibrant city, known for its monasteries and Tibetan culture, before resting for the night.
Day 8 – Motorcycle Inspections & Ride to Lhasa
Day 8 starts with the Tibetan authorities inspecting your motorcycles to ensure that all paperwork is in order and the bikes are roadworthy. Once cleared, you’ll embark on a smooth ride towards Lhasa, Tibet’s spiritual and cultural capital. The ride is approximately 290 kilometers and takes you through stunning high-altitude landscapes. The smooth new highways make the ride enjoyable, and the anticipation of reaching Lhasa builds as you approach the city. Upon arrival, you’ll check into your accommodation and have time to relax.

Day 9 – Rest Day in Lhasa
Today, enjoy a well-deserved rest day in Lhasa. The city is home to many of Tibet’s most iconic landmarks, and you’ll spend the day exploring these sacred sites. Visit the Potala Palace, the former winter residence of the Dalai Lama, which stands majestically on a hill overlooking the city. Next, head to Jokhang Temple, one of the holiest sites in Tibetan Buddhism, and take in the rich spiritual atmosphere. In the evening, enjoy some free time to wander the streets of Lhasa and immerse yourself in its unique culture.
Day 10 – Lhasa to Gyantse
Leaving Lhasa behind, you’ll head west toward Gyantse, a town known for its historical significance and beautiful landscapes. Along the way, you’ll cross the Khamba La pass (4,794 meters), where you’ll enjoy stunning views of the turquoise Yamdrok Tso lake. As you continue, the road takes you past the Kang Sangri Glacier and over the Karo La Pass (5,000 meters) before descending into the town of Gyantse. This town, known for its rich Tibetan heritage, is a great place to rest and take in the surrounding beauty.
Day 11 – Gyantse to Sakya
Day 11 takes you on a ride to Sakya, a village renowned for its monastery complex, which houses around 84,000 ancient Buddhist manuscripts and scrolls. The monastery is one of Tibet’s most important spiritual sites, and you’ll have time to explore its stunning architecture and rich history. The ride through this scenic area is peaceful, with the road offering breathtaking views of the Tibetan plateau.
Day 12 – Ride to Everest Base Camp
Today is one of the most exciting days of the tour, as you ride to Everest Base Camp. The journey takes you over the high Gyatso La pass at 5,248 meters, where the altitude may leave you breathless. The ride continues on newly paved roads through Chomolungma (Everest) National Park, a remote and scenic area. You’ll arrive at Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery in the world, and stay overnight in a simple guesthouse.
Day 13 – Everest Base Camp Sunrise & Return to Gyirong
Rise early for a once-in-a-lifetime experience: riding to Everest Base Camp to witness the sunrise over the world’s highest peak. The view is unforgettable, with Everest standing tall and majestic, surrounded by other towering mountains. After spending time at the Base Camp, the group will retrace the route back to Gyirong for an overnight stay.

Day 14 – Ride Back to Kathmandu
On Day 14, you’ll cross the border back into Nepal, re-entering via the Friendship Bridge. The ride takes you through stunning hillsides and picturesque villages before arriving in Kathmandu. The evening is filled with celebration, as you enjoy a farewell dinner with your fellow riders, reflecting on the incredible adventure you’ve just completed.

Day 15 – Departure from Kathmandu
The tour officially ends after breakfast in Kathmandu. You are free to depart or extend your stay in Nepal as you wish. For those flying home, it’s time to say goodbye to the friends you’ve made on this unforgettable journey.
